About Expat Mortgage Advisor

We are a local mortgage consultancy based in Amstelveen, near Amsterdam. Each year many expats move to this region, which we help to obtain a mortgage. We live in the area ourselves, know the local housing market well and have all the right connections.

All our staff are certified mortgage advisors (Erkend Hypotheekadviseur) who are familiar with the details of buying a house in the Netherlands. We are constantly involved in training to keep in touch with the industry and up to date on new developments.

Independent mortgage advice

We do not work for a bank, but provide you with independent mortgage advice. We work with more than 30 mortgage lenders, so we can always provide you with independent advice. By comparing the terms and rates of the different mortgage lenders, we always find the lowest interest rate at the best terms.

Can every expat get a mortgage in The Netherlands?

There are some conditions. You must have a permanent residence permit and/or be a EU resident. If you are a highly skilled migrant or have substantial savings it is also possible to buy a house in the Netherlands. Not sure about your situation? Do I need to sell my house first?

Are you moving on to your next home? If so, there are more things to look out for. You are already dealing with an existing mortgage. Are you going to sell that or buy an additional home in The Netherlands? Is there any surplus value or debt on your existing home? Should you sell your home (first) before you buy a new house? Can you get a bridging loan? Important matters to think about. We would be happy to help you.

How we work

What can you expect when you decide to work with us? Our process can be summarized in these six steps.

1. Non-binding introductory conversation – The first meeting is completely free and non-binding. We discuss your financial situation and go through your personal wishes and needs.
2. Search for your dream home – Will you search on your own or use a buying agent in The Netherlands? We can advise you on finding a good agent.
3. Inventory call – When the winning bid is in, we will meet again soon. We’ll go deeper into your needs and complete the file.
4. Mortgage advice – Based on our conversations and your personal preferences, we will prepare a customized mortgage recommendation for you.
5. Execution and mediation – We submit the application to the mortgage provider that best suits you. We take care of all communications and make sure the mortgage is in on time.
6. Management of your products – Once the mortgage is finalized, we remain accessible and available for questions or advice at all times.
